The Day - Oil spill cleanup at mill in Norwich cost $720,000

Norwich - The cleanup of the 2007 spill of PCB-laced oil at the abandoned Capehart Mill complex and into the Shetucket River cost $720,000, state and federal environmental officials said.
Initially, when the spill occurred in early July 2007, the state Department of Environmental Protection stepped in and paid for cleanup of the oil that had leaked into the Shetucket and onto the mill grounds. The leak was traced to vandalized abandoned transformers at the mill site that still contained the hazardous oil.
