Enbridge Energy Partners Lakehead Pipeline System Reports Crude Oil Spill in North Dakota


Enbridge Energy Partners, L.P. (NYSE: EEP) (the "Partnership") today reported that clean up was continuing on a crude oil leak, which was confirmed Saturday on Line 2b on the Enbridge Lakehead Pipeline System. An initial spill estimate of approximately 3,000 barrels (126,000 gallons) of light crude oil was reported to federal and state regulatory authorities.
The leak, which is located in Pembina County, North Dakota, was detected by the Enbridge pipeline control center at approximately 11:30 p.m. CT, Friday, Jan. 8. The pipeline was immediately shutdown and isolated by closing valves upstream and downstream of the suspected leak site. The leak is contained within the Enbridge right-of-way, and no water or wildlife have been affected.
