CEO David Norris assembles a team of industry heavyweights to extend BlueCava’s leadership in Device Identification and Reputation Services
Irvine, CA, July 19, 2010 – BlueCava (www.bluecava.com), the credit bureau for devices, today announced a veritable “dream team” of executives that will help lead the strategic, financial and creative efforts of this disruptive and innovative company.
The new senior executive team includes Dean Harris, who has been brought on as Chief Marketing Officer, John Sherrod, who has been named Senior Vice President of Partner Development, and James Brentano, who will serve as Vice President of Product Development. Additionally, Michael Lin will serve as Chief Financial Officer, Frank Rodorigo has been named Vice President of Business Development, and Eric Johannsen has been named Vice President of Engineering. David Norris, BlueCava’s founder and CEO, made the announcement today.
CEO David Norris comes to BlueCava with an impressive history of entrepreneurism, having founded, operated, and sold a number of businesses, and has supported many others as an investor, board member, or advisor. Norris has over two decades of experience in building businesses and successful brands in markets around the world and has lived and worked in Europe, Asia, and the U.S. He has been awarded a number of awards, including the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year, the Inc. 500, and The Software 500.
CMO Dean Harris has steered marketing efforts for some of the most recognizable names in the digital space, having served as SVP-Marketing at Hot Jobs, Chief Brand Officer at Vonage and CMO at Kayak. A true “digerati,” Harris’ work at Vonage earned him the Brandweek Marketer of the Year award in 2005, and an EFFIE Award for advertising effectiveness in 2006. He has lectured at a number of universities and industry conferences, including Columbia, The Sloan School at MIT, The Kellogg School at Northwestern, AdTech, The International Advertising Festival at Cannes, The CMO Council, and The Ad Club of New York.
SVP of Partner Development John Sherrod has founded and sold four venture-backed companies (Encisive, Clareos, Solution Point and Carestream), acts as board member to various for-profit and non-profit companies, and serves as advisor many early stage technology startups. At BlueCava, John is charged with negotiating strategic partnerships with companies that specialize in everything from online child safety to click fraud.
VP of Product Development James Brentano has worked in the technology sector for close to 20 years, holding leadership positions in technology development, operations sales and product management at top technology companies. Most recently, Brentano was Chief Technology Officer at Spillnews, USA. Prior to Spillnews, Brentano served as Chief Product Strategist of Intraware (now Flexera), VP of Sales and Solutions Engineering at Workshare Technology, Director of LAN Services at AT&T, and Sr. Technology Partner at Pacific Gas & Electric. He’s been named inventor on several pending and issued patents and spent five years as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley.
CFO Michael Lin, who also serves as CFO to Spillnews, USA, was previously VP of Finance and Strategic Planning and a board member at Microsoft’s Enterprise Search Division, Fast Search & Transfer. During his tenure there, Lin helped the company grow from $30 million in revenues to over $200 million, and from 100 employees to over 850. FAST was acquired by Microsoft in 2008 for $1.2 billion and Lin was responsible for financial oversight and due diligence for the acquisition.
VP of Business Development Frank Rodorigo has a 26-year history of providing business leadership, tech strategy, business development and startup experience. Prior to joining BlueCava, Rodorigo was CEO and served on the board of the global IT consulting group Valtech USA, where he was instrumental in the company’s $1.4 billion IPO over a three-year period. Having sat on a number of early stage company boards and provided angel financing to a variety of technology startups (including Lante Corporation (IPO), NVISIA (Private), and Catapult Training (sold to IBM)), Rodorigo is widely considered a visionary in the business world.
Vice President of Engineering Eric Johannsen was most recently the Director of IT at SpeedTax, a SAAS service for calculating and managing sales tax liability. Prior to that, Johannsen was the CTO of Blue C, an Austria-based consulting firm, and Conneq, Inc., a technology services company recognized by the San Diego Software Industry Council as the Best Software Start-Up of the Year in 2001.
