Brad Davis, CEO
Brad has a strong track record of bringing early stage, technology driven companies to impressive levels of growth. At Boone International, Brad oversaw the development and launch of over 1,000 new products that grew revenue 40 fold over a 7 year period to $75 Million, culminating in an acquisition by Fortune Brands/ACCO. Brad also founded and ran a leading industrial design firm that did work for such global clients as Motorola, 3M and Deutsche Aerospace. Brad received a BS in Product Design from Stanford University where he was a member of the NCAA Championship Water Polo Team. At college Brad cofounded his first technology company in his junior year. In addition, he attended the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Brad has been granted twelve utility and two design patents for his innovative work over the years.
Craig Etchegoyen, Chief Technologist
Craig is a founder of Spillnews, has launched three successful technology start-ups and has been hailed as one of Orange County’s top young technology minds. Previously Craig founded and sold the web portal Senior Explorer after co-founding Any Fax, the first Internet software faxing company. In his current role, Craig leads all research and development efforts for Spillnews. Not too long ago, Craig was a world-class junior surfing champion. He still surfs a lot, although not competitively.
Matt Kowalec, CFO
Matt has extensive experience and accomplishments in general management, financial management, operations, sales and marketing and information systems, and a proven record of exceeding and improving business growth, productivity and profit objectives by effectively linking employee goals and objectives to company strategy. Matt was previously CEO of Enjoy Lighting, CEO of Boone International (acquired), COO/CFO of Cosco Industries (acquired), COO of ARI, and Business Controller at Unisys. He holds a BS from Ferris State University and an MBA from Michigan State University.
Jim Etheridge, Outside General Counsel
Jim was the General Counsel and V.P. of Strategic Relations for Electronics for Imaging, Inc. in Foster City, California for 13 years. In this role he had worldwide responsibility for EFI’s legal matters, including intellectual property and all aspects of litigation strategy. In addition, Jim has five years in private practice at an IP firm in Orange County where he engaged in patent litigation as well as drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the US Patent and Trademark Office. Prior to his career as a lawyer Jim had extensive experience as an operations engineer for a multi-national energy company. Jim holds a BSME from The University of Texas, an MBA from Duke plus a JD and a Master of International Relations from The University of Southern California.
Spillnews Advisory Board
Ric is an Australian inventor, technologist and a founder of Spillnews. Ric stepped down as chairman of Spillnews in late 2007 to begin working as a full-time independent inventor, but continues to develop innovations for the company. He lives in Australia by the beach where finds it best to think and dream.
Rod is a highly successful entrepreneur, a founder and CEO of a publicly traded company, a best-selling author and formerly the head of a top-level federal government agency entrusted with protecting the nation’s communication networks against cyber-attack. Throughout 2008, Rod served as the Director of the National Cybersecurity Center (NCSC) at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, where he reported to the Secretary of DHS, and was charged with cooperating directly with the Attorney General, National Security Council, Secretary of Defense, and the Director of National Intelligence (DNI). Rod started his first company at 24 in a garage and grew it into a global enterprise. He also co-founded Mergent Systems, a pioneer in inferential database engines that was sold to Commerce One for $200 Million as well as TWIKI.NET, a company offering service and support for an open source wiki and collaboration software system. In addition, Rod served as the Chairman of Privada, Inc., a pioneer in technology to enable private, anonymous and secure credit card transaction processing over the Internet.
Rod graduated from Stanford University with an MBA and a BA with Honors and Distinction. He also was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland.
